Although formally established in 1887, Easton has a history dating back to 1736. Thomas Penn, the son of William Penn, surveyed a tract of land at the convergence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. Later in the 1750s, further surveyance was done to establish a town at “the Place of the Forks.
